In the last 50 years, Maldives has been transformed from a fishing archipelago to world’s most sought-after vacation destination. With the emergence of democracy in 2008 and opening of the economy, Maldives witnessed an influx of foreign investments in the last decade. As economic regulations and contracts get sophisticated, there is an increased need for both local and foreign investors to keep their books and deeds in order, and obtain legal consultation not only at the inception, but in every major business transaction.
Since, 2012, the founders of H&S Consultancy Law Firm LLP had been advising clients unofficially on legal matters, especially in relation to conflicts caused due to misguidance, misrepresentation and breach of commercial contracts. As the volume of cases increased, H&S Consultancy Law Firm LLP was officially registered as a legal consultancy firm in 2016.
The visionary behind the establishment of the firm is Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, the former Chancellor of Islamic University of Maldives (IUM), who saw an increased need for legal and Sharia consultancy. Since then, he started collaboration with like-minded legal and Sharia experts in Maldives to provide legal and Sharia advice to clients. Though the firm’s initial focus was limited to Maldivian borders, the growth of client base and origin necessitated expansion of its consulting activities to outside Maldives.
In addition to legal and Sharia advisory services, the firm is well-equipped to provide business and management consultancy, from setting up a new business to development of project proposals and reports and securing of finance from local and foreign financial institutions.
